SUGO founder Kevin was born in Hong Kong; a fast paced and ever dynamic city in the heart of Asia. In Hong Kong people work and move in insane speed and urgency. Constant changes and transformation to life and the city's skyline is an everyday occurrence. METROPOLIS was created to celebrate and reflect the energy of any city on the globe. Although inspired by Hong Kong, SUGO reinterpreted the "buildings" into the most abstract shape with the slanting geometry mimicking a 3-dimensional perspective of buildings + movement in architectural form. METROPOLIS could combine and layer its opaque acrylic panels freely and can recreate every cityscape on the planet. Just like GUILIN, it shares the same stainless-steel base which allows for infinite combinations of “Mountains" or "Building" and one can even create an amazing glowing “Lampscape" when both are placed adjacent to each other. SUGO conceived both METROPOLIS and GUILIN as illumination sculptures that throws creativity back to you and no 2 Lampscape will ever be the same as we are all individuals with our own creative freedom of choice. Celebrate the progress and evolution of the city but beware of unyielding progress can also bring destruction and degradation to our planet and we need to treat technological advancement with a sense of environmental responsibility.

THE SMOKESCREEN LIMITED is a material we work on for months in collaboration with YUMINIDE and is a special acrylic that needs to be casted with cloud effect paint poured in and stirred by hand. With this unique method no 2 piece of the design will ever be the same and it is produced in highly limited quantity. YUMINIDE is a young and quirky creative outfit with tons of crazies in her brain and SUGO loves this. THE SMOKESCREEN LIMITED is available exclusively for SUGO. We decide on which collection will have the honour to adapt this material and any creation attaining this “upgrade” will become a true One Off piece in the world of design!
